Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, write to us. The Temenino team answers personally, usually the same day.

Booking and payment

Why book direct instead of through a platform?

The direct rate is our lowest, because it carries no platform commission or service fee. You also get a direct contact on WhatsApp before and during the stay, and stays of seven nights or more are discounted automatically.

How does payment work?

On a secure payment page run by OmniVillas, Temenino's booking and management partner. You receive the confirmation immediately by email. Prices are shown in the currency of your choice, but you are charged in the quote currency.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights, all year. Some holiday periods may ask for more: the calendar tells you when you pick your dates.

Can we book both houses together?

Yes, up to twelve people. As soon as you enter more than six guests, the engine offers Komako and Pihiti together, with one checkout and one address.

What if I need to cancel?

The cancellation terms are shown before payment and repeated in your confirmation. Write to us as soon as you know: the earlier it is, the more options we have.

The houses

What is the difference between Komako and Pihiti?

Both houses share the same layout: two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open living room with two single beds, a kitchen, a covered veranda. Komako is on the lawn, facing the lagoon, next to the pavilion. Pihiti is at the end of the path, behind the trees, more secluded, with its own steps down to the water.

How many beds exactly?

In each house: a king bed in the main bedroom, two single beds in the second bedroom, and two single beds in the living room. Six people sleep comfortably; there is a children's table in the garden.

Are the houses air-conditioned?

The main bedroom of each house is air-conditioned. The other rooms have fans and the lagoon breeze. The living rooms open wide onto the veranda.

Is there a washing machine?

Yes, in each house, along with the full kitchen. It is what makes a week or longer easy to live.

The lagoon and the gear

Can we swim in front of the houses?

Yes. The arm of lagoon in front of the plot is calm and shallow near the edge, with a small sandy beach and black rocks. The water deepens as you go out; the coral heads are a few paddle strokes away.

Are the kayaks and paddleboards included?

Yes, at no extra cost and with nothing to book. They are on the lawn with the life jackets. Children go out with an adult, and we ask you to be back before dark.

Can we fish?

Yes, rods are provided. From the rocks at the end of the plot or from the kayak. Your host will tell you what is biting and what is better released.

Is there a beach?

A small sandy beach on the arm of lagoon, under the coconut palms, and an islet you walk to at low tide. For big beaches, Tautira and Vairao are under an hour away.

Can we launch a boat?

Yes, the plot allows a small boat to be launched. Write to us beforehand to arrange access.

Getting here and around

How do we get here from the airport?

By car, along the south coast road: allow 1 h 15 to 1 h 30 depending on traffic around Papeete. No ferry: Tahiti Iti is joined to Tahiti Nui by the Taravao isthmus. We send you the map to the end of the lane.

Do we need a car?

Yes. The plot is at the end of a private lane, ten minutes from the shops in Taravao. There is no practical public transport. Private parking is reserved behind each house.

How do we find the entrance?

At PK 58 on the Teahupo'o road, take the Mitirapa lane, signposted "Villas Mitirapa / Pointe Vivish": that sign names the neighbouring property at the start of the lane. Keep going to the very end: a surfboard planted in the grass marks the entrance to Temenino.

Can we arrive late at night?

Yes, just tell us your time. The address is easy to find at night with the map we send, and your host welcomes you on site.

Children and house rules

Are the houses suitable for children?

Yes, families are the most frequent guests at Temenino: a big garden, a calm lagoon, a children's table, kayaks. The plot is on the water and not fenced on the lagoon side: toddlers stay supervised.

Are pets allowed?

No pets (allergies). No parties or events either, the houses are non-smoking indoors, and quiet is asked from 10 pm: this is a residential neighbourhood, and an outdoor camera watches the entrance to the plot.

Is the tap water drinkable?

No, as almost everywhere on the peninsula. Plan on bottled water, sold in Taravao ten minutes away. We can leave some before you arrive if you ask.

The surroundings

Where do we shop and eat?

Taravao, ten minutes away, has supermarkets, a pharmacy, a market and food trucks in the evening. A few snack bars and restaurants line the Teahupo'o road. Fresh fish is sold at the roadside late in the day.

What is there to do around Toahotu?

Teahupo'o and its marina fifteen minutes away, boat trips to the wave and the Fenua Aihere, the Vaipahi water gardens, the Taravao plateau, Tautira at the end of the east road, whales from August to October. Our guides cover it all.

Is there mobile signal and Wi-Fi?

Yes, one Wi-Fi network per house, decent for the region: email, streaming and video calls work. Mobile signal covers the plot.
